Frequently Asked Questions
What is the dress code?
There is no official dress code. Most people dress casual often in denim jeans or similar. Unless there is a special occasion like a baptism or wedding you rarely see a sport coat or tie. Women will sometimes wear dresses but usually casual with a style that is modest. We are much more concerned about what’s going on inside of a person, than what clothes they wear on the outside. Our pastors are usually in jeans. Feel free to come as you are.
WHAT'S THE MUSIC LIKE?
We don't own a pipe organ. Our live band usually consists of guitars, drums, and keys. We try to sing songs that are deep in meaning, but easy to understand. To hear our typical music from our Sunday Morning Worship Service please click the link below.
Do my kids sit with me?
When you arrive you drop off your kids to our Children's Ministry Team who directs them to their specific classes. High School Students have "LIFE268" during our 9:30 service only. Our experienced and energetic teachers will help your children & students learn about God in a relevant way, as well as offer fun experiences that will help the teaching come alive in their hearts.
Will I be asked to give money?
If this is your first time with us we want you to keep your wallet in your pocket. Just come and experience a service at The Ranch Church. If you like it and want to call it your church home, then we believe giving to God and His church is part of being a Christ-follower. It is also a principal and act of obedience that God faithfully blesses.
We sure hope not. A life connected to Jesus should be fulfilling and rewarding. We strategically plan weekend gatherings to engage your heart, mind and soul. We use music, video, powerful real-life teaching and other experiential elements to help you connect to God in a meaningful way.
will I be bored?
What is the overall environment like?
We want to make you feel welcome as you put yourself in a position to connect and have a life changing encounter with God. We provide a loving, non judgemental, real-life casual environment that will set the tone for you to be more focused on God, and less concerned about the atmosphere around you. Our heart is that you feel connected and welcomed into a community of people living to please God.
We meet in the gym at the Los Olivos Elementary School, so as much as it is a mobile church, it is home. We might be a mobile church, but we want you to feel at home. We provide coffee and pastries only to add to your new home experience.
Who is your staff?
Rick Soto was born in Arecibo Puerto Rico to Puerto Rican parents. Raised in Los Angeles, he attended and graduated from Catholic schools.
During he senior year at San Diego State University he had a sudden and radical encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ, and afterward was never the same. He left early business opportunities behind and engaged in full time ministry as a newer believer.
A number of years were spent in college ministry, traveling to many places all over the world to preach the gospel, including the former Soviet Union and the Middle East. It was during this time that Rick and Jane fell in love and were married. After some time Rick landed on the staff of Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara, and then saw the Lord open doors to plant The Ranch Church.
He can sometimes be seen running through a local valley trail, and is often found at the gym. Rick and Jane have four treasured sons.
Jeff was born in 1961 and raised in Fullerton Ca. Jeff grew up in an environment that was anything but Christian and felt the sting of a broken household.
Jeff married his high school girlfriend and love of his life, Robyn, in 1985. They bought a house in Yorba Linda Ca and started a family which eventually resulted in 3 beautiful children. Vowing never to repeat the mistake his parents had made, he sought to never let his marriage end in divorce.
About that time a man at Jeff's work place had been sharing about his relationship with Jesus Christ which "supposedly" changed his life. That morning Jeff had a spiritual experience which resulted with the interior of his car "lighting up" on the Newport freeway at 4 in the morning while driving to work and asked Christ into his life.

Children's Ministry Director
Our vision for Kid's Ministry is to see a passion for Jesus ignited in the hearts of our kids, and a love for the Word of God which will fully equip them to live out the calling God has on their lives.
Our mission is to provide curriculum which will teach them the foundational truths of God. We seek to demonstrate the love that God has for them and to model what it means to love, live and labor in and for God's kingdom.
